    ReCallasMedea: opera-robotika-tijelo-umjetnost2019Artistic output (Unrefereed)
    Abstract [en]

ReCallasMedea is an interdisciplinary, interactive opera that aims to explore the relationship between opera art and new technologies, what are the strengths and weaknesses of that relationship. The main goal of this project is to encourage the audience to explore and learn operatic vocals in a different environment from what is present in more standard opera forms. "ReCallasMedea" intertwines and opposes opera, dancing, robotics, video, new music and human-artists in an unusual, hybrid form that, in addition to the platform for experiment, is an homage to Maria Callas, the greatest opera artist of all time.

Regionala samarbetsprojekt i Norrbottens län: socialtjänsten, psykiatrin och primärvården2008Report (Other academic)
    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [en]

Tanzmesse 2012Deutsche Oper am Rhein - DüsseldorfAn extraordinary prelude to the internationale tanzmesse nrw 2012: “Robocygne”, an innovative re-interpretation of “Swan Lake”, is entirely done without dancers. In cooperation with Mälardalen University, the choreographer Åsa Unander-Scharin creates an ‘Opera Mecatronica’ expressing the most ancient of desires to bring life to the forms we create. Can human nature be represented in the absence of a human? We are deeply moved when the bird-like robot body made of metal, feathers and tulle begins its trembling, vibrating and inspired dance. It is a work of art full of beauty and melancholy. http://www.tanzmesse-nrw.com/performances/companies/opening1-en.htmChoreography and movement recording: Åsa Unander-ScharinDancer: RobocygneMusic: Carl Unander-Scharin (remodulation of Pjotr Tchaikovsky)Robot construction and software development: Prof. Lars Asplund and Alexander Larsson, School of Innovation, Design and Engineering at Mälardalen University

    Abstract [sv]

    I rollerna:

    Librettisten - Matilda Paulsson

    Ljussnytaren - Elisabeth Meyer

    Maskinmästaren - Loa Falkman

    Dekormålaren - Martin Vanberg

    Fru Frisör - Kerstin Avemo

    Balettmästaren - Johan Schinkler

"Room To Grow" (single)2018Artistic output (Unrefereed)
    Abstract [en]

And... just like that. The second track from my album is out! A song I wrote with the amazing Bill DeMain in Nashville. I’m ridiculously proud of it. Chock full of tricky chords that kind of took me out of my pure pop comfort zone. I’m very thankful to Bill for bringing the initial musical germ and the title to the table. It's about how we often tend to overthink everything and rule out things too soon. Instead the song promotes the idea of 'you never know what's going to happen’ and to just give things a chance! Hereby proudly presenting: "Room to grow”!

    Abstract [en]

The Danish composer Per Nørgård (b. 1932) finds inspiration for his outstanding percussion music in the forces of nature, eastern mysticism and exotic rhythms. In the four works on this CD we encounter a melodic side to percussion, when for instance the soloist uses a violin bow to play the vibraphone and the musical saw. Two of the works were written especially for the Colombian-born percussionist Christian Martínez, who plays here with the Esbjerg Ensemble conducted by Petter Sundkvist.

Sing the body electric2013Artistic output (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

SING THE BODY ELECTRIC! - A 2013 CORPORATORIO - is a new work that celebrates the human capacity to change her conditions and envision a new world with poetry and music. In seven embodied songs, four opera-singers perform new music with custom-built technology in a space charged with voices and with musical wires strung from floor to ceiling. The work is a cross-over between opera, oratorio and choreography - where movement of bodies creates music, sound, space and visual scenography. Energy is Eternal Delight! - the words by 18c poet William Blake are given new artistic interpretation in our environmentally vulnerable and technologically conditioned age.•This is a new work developed at the University College of Opera in Stockholm by Carl Unander-Scharin and Åsa Unander-Scharin in close cooperation with Ludvig Elblaus. The work is an embodied opera, a corporatorio, where music, voice, body, movement and space concur in the performance.•Textbook based on texts by Albert Einstein: The world as I see it, Walt Whitman’s “I Sing the body Electric!” and poems by William Blake.•Singers: Lisa Gustafsson, soprano, Alexandra Zetterström Büchel, soprano, Maria Sanner Konvicka, alt, Staffan Liljas, bass baritone •Emerging technologies, developed for and through the operatic artwork (Throat IV, the ScenOchSinneSensor, The Midi-Harp, The Virtual Viola da Gamba, and The Charged Room)•Music and textual compilation: Carl Unander-Scharin•Stage direction: Åsa Unander-Scharin•Technology development: Ludvig Elblaus, Carl Unander‐Scharin, Åsa Unander‐Scharin
CapeTownOpera teams up with Stockholm’s University College of Opera to present a pair of cutting-edge thirty-minute operas.
    Abstract [sv]

    Lipparella:

    Mikael Bellini - kontratenor

    Anna lindahl - violin

    Kerstin Frödin - blockflöjt

Louise Agnani - viola da gamba

    Peter Söderberg - teorb

    Spelplatser:

    Baertlings foajé i första Hötorgshuset - 18 september 2016

    Svindersviks Paviljong i Nacka - 22 september 2016

    Färgfabriken - 29 september 2016
