Abstract [en]
2-19 September 2001 an innovative PhD course took place in the Kola Peninsula, NW Russia. The PhD course "Industrial Impact on Natural and Social Environment" is the second in the chain of interdisciplinary research education courses arranged by the Circumpolar Arctic Environmental Studies PhD Network (CAES Network: http://www.caesnetwork.cjb.net). The course topics covered by a team of internationally recognised researchers from the following disciplines: biology, ecology, geography, environmental management, anthropology, sociology, technology and human work sciences. The course program also includes contacts with local experts, administrators/politicians, and study visits to industries and local communities. Proceedings contain Course program and papers written by course participants.
