Abstract [en]

The purpose of this literature review was to provide an overview and description of occupational therapy and occupational therapy interventions for people with Anorexia Nervosa. Data collection was carried out through a systematic literature search in the databases CINHAL, Proquest, AMED, PsycINFO och PubMed, a manual search of reference lists in the selected articles and search in journals. The articles were reviewed for quality and a total of ten articles were analyzed, seven theoretical, two quantitative and one qualitative article. The result is present in four categories; Identify the activity needs and activity problems, The importance of engaging in creative and meaningful activities, To create structure in the daily activities and Therapeutic strategies. The first category involves identifying activity problems and activity needs. Other category demonstrates the importance of engaging in creative and meaningful activities for the recovery and the third category, the occupational therapist supports the creation of structure in daily activities. The fourth and last category involves therapeutic strategies used constant in the occupational therapist's work. The conclusion of the study is that more research is needed in this area as little is known about how occupational therapy can contribute in the rehabilitation of persons with eating disorders and existing research is rather old. Also, there is a need for more research on the effect of different interventions to be able to provide the best possible interventions to this group of persons. According to the authors, has occupational therapist responsible for informing the community and other professionals about what occupational therapy is and can contribute. For the client to get the best possible recovery, according to the authors it is important that the community and other professionals have the knowledge of what occupational therapist can contribute to society.
