Usability test and product development of cutlery basket
2003 (engelsk)Independent thesis Advanced level (professional degree), 20 poäng / 30 hpOppgave
Abstract [en]

This thesis project was made at Electrolux Home Products in Solaro, Italy. The aim of the thesis was to make an idea-concept of a new cutlery basket with improved usability, as well as a usability test to find out what is important regarding the cutlery basket. The project was performed during 21 weeks in Italy. During the project three idea-concepts were developed and used in a usability test with internal and external recruited participants. One existing cutlery basket and a cutlery basket developed in a parallel project were also in the usability test. The result of the test was used to develop a final concept. The final concept was used in a second usability test to see if there had been any improvements. The final concept, Picture 1, is a flexible cutlery basket, which have the possibility to be placed in both upper and lower basket. To make this possible, the handle is height adjustable. The cutlery basket can easily change size with help of the sliding parts on the side. There is also improved flexibility in the grid that is used for separating the cutlery during standard test. The new grid solution consists of four grid parts that can be used independent of each other and are possible to remove if the user do not want them.
