Here we present a heuristic that starts with the common cycle solution finding an optimal time interval for the common frequencies; thereafter in "powers of two' try to reduce or increase the frequency for one item at a time, and the right and lowest possible inventory holding costs (for these different frequencies); and continue in this way until no better solution is found. This heuristic can also be combined with costs for operating the production facility depending on the number of hours the facility is operating per working day.
