The relationship between job satisfaction and personality : A quantitative study (English)
Abstract [en]
The purpose of this study was to investigate if there is a relationship between job satisfaction and personality. As well as whether there are differences in job satisfaction based on different groups like gender, age, years in current position and years in working life. The survey thatwas distributed contained both demographic questions and validated measurement instruments. The measurement instruments were Ten Item Personality Inventory whichmeasures personality and Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire which measures jobsatisfaction. In total, the survey contained 53 questions and was answered by 167 participants,of which 123 (74%) were women and 43 (26%) and one dropout. The results of the study showed a significant difference in intrinsic job satisfaction between the age group 31-35 years and 41-45 years. However, the result could not demonstrate any significant result between job satisfaction and personality. Furthermore it was concluded that the population examined was too small for the chosen amount of groups.
