Abstract [en]

This thesis presents the preliminary mechanical, sector shielding , and thermal analysesfor the SP@M instrument, which is part of the M-Matisse mission. The structural design isdriven by ECSS standards and mission specifications, it is composed by two main elementsthe detection unit and the electronic box, both subjected to finite element method (FEM)simulations. These simulations validated the instrument’s mechanical integrity, confirmingits ability to withstand the stresses of space environments. The Sector Shielding Analysis analysed the protection of sensitive components againstspace radiation, providing necessary insights into regarding shielding configurations.Lastly a comprehensive thermal analysis was conducted to evaluate the instrument’stemperature behavior over the orbit, retrieving important results that will be comparedwith the future operational requirements. The results from these analyses offer a strong foundation for the further developmentof the SP@M instrument.
