Abstract [en]

This paper recounts the creation of rigging a stag (male deer) using proprietary in-house production tools from the VFX company Goodbye Kansas. The purpose is to get an understanding of how to rig in a VFX production pipeline. The paper covers how to place the joints, what systems are installed, and how to approach skinning. Furthermore, it delves into common issues from base skinning (skeleton subspace deformation) to fix and setting up corrective joints using an in-house pose space deformation (PSD) tool. The neck remains one of the areas of deformation issues and requires further research and development.
