Abstract [en]
"Anpassningen" is a radio play performance for three actors and fixed media. In the encounter between live voices and a composed sonic environment, the work opens up a poetic and dramatic landscape in which memory, language, the body and history are constantly shifting.Through three figures and a chorus, the work portrays the human attempt to create a life in a new country without losing oneself along the way. We follow experiences of migration, language change, homesickness, guilt, love and family bonds across generations. What at first appears to be an arrival into freedom also proves to be the beginning of a painful metamorphosis.
Within the work’s polyphonic texture, the newly arrived individual is confronted with questions that cannot be resolved once and for all: How does one speak in a new voice without betraying the old one? How does one continue to live between the memory of what has been and the demand to become part of what is? And what happens when the past, however firmly it has been held back, returns through love, children, the body and language?
Anpassningen is a drama about the inner landscape of exile, about being torn between origin and belonging, between shame and pride, between silence and expression. But it is also a story about the human capacity to change, to carry one’s contradictions, and slowly to find a possible path towards reconciliation.
