The aim of this paper is to explore whether different, preferably management-related theories and theoretical concepts, may contribute to a better understanding of entrepreneurial cooperation. The entrepreneurial characteristics of innovativeness, proactiveness and risk-taking expected to characterize entrepreneurial cooperation are addressed and five different theoretical perspectives that deal with these three entrepreneurial characteristics are reviewed on how these perspectives can contribute to the understanding of entrepreneurial inter-organizational cooperation.
