Abstract [en]

To solve boundary value problems of stationary heat distribution in composite materials, one has to solve partial differential equations with rapidly oscillating coefficients. These equations are in general impossible to solve numerically by standard methods. Instead, one wants to find constants, effective conductivities and solve the corresponding boundary value problem to get an approximate solution of the original problem. To compute these effective conductivities, we have developed a finite element computer program with integrated homogenization routines.
